Realign

Working with Kingston University we researched, designed and prototyped Realign.

Realign is a digital tool designed for entrepreneurs to manage stress and maintain balance throughout their workday.

It offers micro-breaks and guided resets that fit seamlessly into busy schedules while tracking mood and well-being trends over time.

Problem

A lot of money is invested into start-ups, however not much is invested into the well-being of the business leaders themselves.

Despite the importance of recovery, there are few scalable, evidence-based digital tools designed specifically to support entrepreneurs’ mental resilience and emotional disengagement from work.

As a part of research into entrepreneurs and the stressors they face being small business owners, Kingston University wanted to build a digital psychological recovery tool.

The tool needed to be based on the 3R model (Reduce, Resource and Recover) which is a framework to help business owners manage and recover from stress.

As a part of the process we interviewed a selection of entrepreneurs and discussed their challenges running a business and how they deal with stressors in their every-day life.

SOLUTION

Entrepreneurs and small business owners are often
time-poor and under constant pressure.

We know we cannot always prevent these stressors from happening. Realign exists to help them prevent burnout, recognise stress triggers, and build simple, personalised micro-habits that fit naturally into their work day.

By tailoring recovery strategies through data-driven insights, the app creates a continuous feedback loop that supports sustainable well-being and growth.

Through small, daily steps, Realign helps entrepreneurs and small business owners reset & reconnect in as little as 60 seconds a day.

From day one, entrepreneurs receive practical activities grounded in evidence-based research. Over time, the app learns from their data, offering tailored exercises and insights that evolve with their needs.

Every activity is designed to show why it works, helping users understand and sustain healthy recovery habits.

Process

Using the four phases of The Double Diamond we went from discovery to delivery in this project.

The Double Diamond is a visualisation of the design and innovation process. It’s a simple way to describe the steps taken when developing a project, irrespective of methods and tools used.
